I have been getting so many questions about my skincare lately. Working at spa’s since I was in high school really gave me an excellent perspective on skincare and how essential it is at every age. As you guys know, I am a huge makeup lover and obviously make up looks tons better on clear, well-balanced skin. Well balanced is the operative word because everyone’s skin type is unique BUT every skin type needs the same basic formula; cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize! Easy enough, but there are so many different subsections of all of those things that tend to get complex. For starters I genetically have oily skin which can become problematic if I don’t take proper care of it. I try to keep things easy, so here is my actual skin care routine that I try to use every night.
Step 1: Pre-Cleanse
When I am wearing a full face of makeup, like I was this day, I start out using a makeup remover wipe. My skin isn’t sensitive, so I like to try different ones. The ones I’m using here are tea-tree and peppermint infused which is awesome for keeping blemishes at bay. When it’s practical, I do love to keep my skin care as natural as possible. It’s important to check ingredients and I even make my own products if I find the time! These wipes are a Ross find but I will link some similar ones down below!
Step 2: Cleanse and Exfoliate!
A big tip on this step is that you have to have balance! I try to exfoliate every other day or so because I do tend to wear makeup on most days. This facial cleanser brush is from Ross for $15 and it has several interchangeable heads. When it comes to a physical exfoliant, you can really use anything but you definitely don’t have to spend $200 to get the job done. I use it with my all time favorite cleanser; the Purity Cleanser by Philosophy. I also think that a good “dupe” for this cleanser is the Cetaphil cleanser that is available at most drugstores. Both are very gentle and work very well with an exfoliating brush.
Step 3: Moisturize!
I have been going back and forth between two amazing moisturizers lately. I love this Clovertree Triple C Serum as it is all organic and ethically produced but it is somewhat pricey. When I am looking for something a little lighter, I love the Nivea Creme. It has been compared to the La Mer moisturizer and I simply adore it. It is such a light product that absorbs into the skin right away and is extremely budget friendly at just $8!
I hope you were able to take something from my night time skin care routine, that you may have not been doing or may you needed a little motivation to take that makeup off! Let me know what your favorite products are for your skin and how you make time for skin care!
